The structure that helps in the production, processing and transportation of protein within cells is endoplasmic reticulum. This cell organelle has ribosomes attached to it. These ribosomes attached on endoplasmic reticulum are responsible for the synthesis of polypeptides which is further modified. Endoplasmic reticulum is made up of cisternae, vesicles and tubules. Cisternae help in the processing of protein that is protein modification. The vesicles transport the protein to Golgi apparatus. There are many functions of Endoplasmic reticulum but the main function is to produce process and transport protein.
