The Andes mountains is a series of high mountains that cross through South America, dividing the continent in two and crossing seven different countries: Venezuela, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Bolivia, Chile and Argentina.
The higher the elevation of the mountain, the cooler the temperatures can get. In some of the summits of the mountains present in The Andean Region, temperatures can get as low as -20 Celsius Degrees.
Crops can be grown at high elevations. This can be seen in places such as Machu Picchu in Peru, where the Incas used to grow different crops to sustain life in the mountains.
Temperatures in the region range from very hot to well below freezing. This occurs due to the fact that the Andean Region spans over a large amount of territory that goes through Amazonian forests, desserts, volcanoes and dry cold weather like the one in The Patagonia, in Chile and Argentina.
