In the short tale "Emperor's New Clothes" by Hans Christian Andersen, the Emperor hires the swindlers because he loves wearing fancy clothes and a important procession is around the corner. These two swindlers promised him "the finest, best suit of clothes from a fabric invisible to anyone who is unfit for his position or hopelessly stupid". Since the Emperor's ministers didn't want to admit that they could not see the clothes, they lied to the Emperor. Eventually, the Emperor lied himself too and as a result he went naked to the procession.

Answer:

The emperor hire the swindlers because he wanted the best of the best clothes since the king wants to be well dressed. This contributes to the major theme since it starts the deception of the clothes since the skill of the swindlers was deceiving the emperor at the beginning and after the clothes were deceiving since nobody spoke up not trying to look foolish ending up looking even more like a fool. The text said that the clothes looked invisible to stup*d people or people who are unfit for office. Looking for good clothes the emperor found himself in a illusion.
