Most of the alcohol consumed is metabolized by an enzyme present in liver of human beings called as alcohol dehydrogenase. The metabolism of alcohol occurs in two simple steps .During the first step of metabolism  alcohol is converted into acetaldehyde by the enzyme called alcohol dehydogenase (ADG) and the product formed  is acetyldehyde .This acetyldehyde is then broken down into another product called acetate with the help of enzyme aldehyde dehydrogease (ALDH) which in turn is converted into carbon dioxide and water.
