The disadvantages that a cell having large volume is that there is not enough material that will be able to transported by the cell as its the material inside the cell is less.

The smaller is the cell, more will be the exchange of materials. The smaller cells also have a faster rate of exchange and the bigger cells have a lower rate of exchange.

So, the large volume of the cells does not supports the movement of enough materials from the inside to the outside of the cell.
