After starting near Athens, Alexander led his forces east up to the Indus River. In effect, after securing control of the whole of Greece, he moved through Asia Minor, then he attacked and defeated the Persian Army taking over Syria; then he conquered Egypt, founding Alexandria; then he went to Babylonia and Persia, and then prepare for a campaign into India, by which time his soldiers were feeling the need to go back home, to which Alexander agreed.
