Diversifying always makes the economy stronger when a recession comes. We have seen the US give economic ground to China when it comes to Africa and South America. This has a great impact in the hegemony of the US, economically and otherwise. There are multiple emerging economies in the world, many in Africa, South America and Asia. The US, if it wants to stay as the sole economic power, needs to enter these emerging markets and help them succeed. In return it will increase its outreach and economic output.
