Jorge´s theory is that Malturian is not a single person, but a name adopted by a society of suicidal magicians, who sacrifice themselves in order to perpetuate the name Malturian and increase the name´s fame by performing "impossible" acts of magic and resurrecting afterwards. At the end of the tale, we see how Jorge Reinz himself becomes Malturian, by performing an impossible to survive feat, throwing himself from niagara falls inside of a keg.
