Hi Mandy :)
Question - A plastic rod becomes negatively charged when it is rubbed with a piece of wool. How does the rod become charged?
Answer - Electrons move from the wool to the rod.
Why - When he/she rubs the woll on the rod the negatively charged electrons will be transmitted from the the rod to the wool.
Hope This Helps :)
While rubbing the plastic rod with the wool the electrons after gaining energy from the rubbing gets excited and come on the surface of the plastic rod.
What is electrostatics?
Electrostatics is a branch of physics that studies electric charges at rest When a piece of wool is used to rub a plastic rod, the plastic rod becomes negatively charged.
electrons are transferred from one material to the other as a result of the friction between the two materials. The material which gains electrons is negatively charged. The material that loses electrons is positively charged.
