(i) Education: Education is considered to be the pillar of social change. However, it is saddened to mention that literacy rate in India is at 74.04 percent.
(ii) Rapid growth of population: This causes huge unemployment in the country. The rapid growth of population dwindles the ownership of the size of land. Consider a case, Bharat is having 2 acres of agricultural land and have 6 child. When it comes to distribution of land among his children, each children will receive 0.33 acres of land.
(iii) Social customs and Caste System: There are some communities who believes that children are a gift of god, some believes abortion,sterilization or using condoms are against the will of their customs. Who else can deny the pitfalls of caste system. The people of lower caste are mainly engaged in low income jobs that leads them to poverty. However, i am not denying the fact that all upper caste peoples are empowered or not living below the poverty line.
All this was never kept in mind by the people of india in the past (aka.after independence),
