The Earth is solid, and rotates all in one piece.

The Sun isn't solid.  Different parts of it rotate at different speeds.

The Sun's equator takes about 25 days to make a complete rotation,
and the farther from the equator you look, the slower the stuff rotates.
By the time you get to the Sun's poles, that stuff out there takes about
36 days to rotate once !
