x = [tex]\frac{60}{9}[/tex] and x = [tex]\frac{45}{8}[/tex]
Since in both cases the figures are similar then the ratios of corresponding sides are equal
[tex]\frac{x}{15}[/tex] = [tex]\frac{4}{9}[/tex] ( cross- multiply )
9x = 60 ( divide both sides by 9 )
x = [tex]\frac{60}{9}[/tex]
and [tex]\frac{x}{5}[/tex] = [tex]\frac{9}{8}[/tex]
8x = 45 ( divide both sides by 8 )
x = [tex]\frac{45}{8}[/tex]
