2. Â Political and Corporate corruption.
Along with the expansion and prosperity that came with the U.S. developments in industrialization, also came with unfair business practices, enrichment of corrupt politicians and corporations at the expense of the lower class and the factory workers.
The Progressive Movement emerged in the 1890s and continued until the 1920s as a response to all these injustices. Progressive reformers consistently worked to make social and political reforms that improved society by exposing corruption in both government and big business, regulating private industry, strengthening protections for workers and consumers, among others.
