Find the midpoint of a segment whose endpoints are (-9,5) and (5,-1)

The formula of a midpoint:
[tex]\left(\dfrac{x_1+x_2}{2},\ \dfrac{y_1+y_2}{2}\right)[/tex]
We have
(-9, 5), (5, -1)
Substitute:
[tex]\dfrac{-9+5}{2}=\dfrac{-4}{2}=-2\\\\\dfrac{5+(-1)}{2}=\dfrac{4}{2}=2[/tex]
