The pH level of a cleaning product can vary depending on what you need. However, the most products would have a pH higher than 7 because anything above 7 will not be acidic but basic. Basic products tend to be more effective when cleaning.

If you were testing a household cleaning product, Above 7 would be a reasonable pH for it.

What is pH?

pH is defined as a figure shows the acidity or alkalinity of a solution on a logarithmic scale on which 7pH is neutral, below 7 value is more acid and higher values more alkaline or basic. The pH is equal to −log10 c, whereas c is the hydrogen ion concentration in moles per liter.

Chemicals also have to be washed down a drain and  also they are harsh on the environment. It is always best to use the weakest solution (low pH) capable of cleaning the specific soil load. This is why it is recommended a neutral detergent, with a pH of 7 or more, for general cleaning and disinfecting.
