A main failing of the United States Government under the Articles of Confederation was its

inability to allow the United States to conduct foreign relations.

failure to regulate trade among the states.

inability to defend Texas from being taken over by Mexico.

failure to allow the United States to increase.

Respuesta :

failure to regulate trade among the states. Also a failure to regulate taxation from the states.  Congress had few effective means to enforce its laws, raise revenue, or regulate the economy.

The Articles of Confederation failed because they did not give Congress and the national government enough power. The new United States just fought a war to end what they considered tyrannical rule of a strong government that overpowered local government and the leaders of the U.S. feared a powerful central government.
