The stamp act was a act passed by the parliament in 1765 to directly tax and tax all printed materials in the United States colonies. The tax was to pay for the standing British army in America.
There’s many cons from the acts such the tax on it was high, and that the colonies had no representation in parliament that levied the tax, and that it caused violence and made the tension between the British and colonies increase.
The act was repealed because of the backlash and protest in the colonies. Boycotting of all British good was even suggested.
