Is their someone that can explain the meaning of this?
The use of text lingo in the selection process is akin to wearing flip flops and shorts to an interview the applicant might be more comfortable,but in almost all cases it would be inappropriate.

It's saying not to use text lingo (eg stuff like OMG or SMH) in the selection process (not sure what it's talking about there, but presumably context helps) because that would be like going to a job interview wearing shorts and flip flops, even though it would be comfy, you probably won't get the job.
