I'm guessing this is a slope problem, so the equation would be like this: y = mx + b where m is the slope and b is the y-intercept.

$m = \frac{y1 - y2}{x1 - x2}$
Using this,
$m = \frac{1 + 8}{2 + 1} = \frac{9}{3}$
Which is equal to,
$m = 3$
