The trophic level of a living being is the position it involves in an evolved way of life. The word trophic gets from the Greek τροφή (trophē) alluding to sustenance or food. A natural way of life speaks to a progression of life forms that eat another living being and are, thus, eaten themselves.

Energy Flows from the producer level to the consumer level. Plants and algae produce food by photosynthesis. They are consumed by primary consumers like rabbits, deers. Primary consumers are consumed by secondary consumers like snake, which are consumed by tertiary consumers like eagle. This, energy flows to higher trophic levels and almost 10% of the nergy is lost at each trophic level.
