J.  B. Watson and  B. F. Skinner believed that psychology should focus on the behavior in the environment that can be seen or measured.  They proposed new forms of learning other than classical conditioning: operant conditioning , which is a method of learning that occurs through rewards and punishments for behavior. Skinner's views were slightly less extreme than those of Watson (1913).
