To find the area of a square, you just need to do length × width. But because all the sides are equal (they're all the same length), the length and width are actually the same. That means to work out the area, you just need to pick any side and multiply it by itself. That means the formula becomes Area = b² (where b is just any side of the square).

So if we know 64 is the area, we can substitute it into our equation:

Area = b²

64 = b²

Now we just need to square root both sides to get b by itself:

√64 = √b²

The √b² cancels out the ² because the opposite of squaring is square rooting, so we're just left with:

√64 = b

The square root of 64 is just 8, so you end up with:

8 = b

And if you remember, I said earlier that b is any side of the square, so that means one side of the square is 8 cm.

Now, to find out the perimeter, we just need to take the 8 cm side and multiply it by 4, because there are 4 equal sides to a square.

8 × 4 = 32 cm.

That means our final answer is 32 cm.
