Quebec Act
The Quebec Act was passed in 1774 and protected the rights of Catholics and French in Canada.
After Britain gained Quebec and French lands from the Appalachian Mountains to the Mississippi, the British needed to deal with the new lands. The Proclamation of 1763 declared lands beyond the Appalachians as Indian Territory and in 1774 the Quebec Act protected the French citizens. The Quebec Act allowed the French to continue practicing Catholicism, use french law for civil matters, and the governor of Quebec was put in charge of the Indian Territory. This demonstrated to colonists that they would not be able to control or even access new lands they had helped the British to gain.

Further Explanation:
On 7th October 1763, King George III issued an act that followed Great Britain’s accession of French provinces in North America after the conclusion of French and Indian war. The act was named Royal Proclamation Act of 1763, which proclaimed all the grant lands given by Government to British Crown. The act continued to be of lawful importance to the First Nation of Canada. It also dealt with the controlling of all French Colonies inherited during the French and Indian war. It led to the establishment of new governments in Grenada, east Florida, and Quebec.
Later In 1774 British parliament passed an act that replaced its temporary government created during Proclamation of 1763 to a long-term administration in Canada and named it as Quebec Act. The thirteen colonies took it as an intolerable act, as it nullifies numerous western claims of coast colonies. It extended the borders of the province of Quebec to Ohio River in the south to Mississippi river in the West.
