Let's go through this term by term.

  • Rational number- a number that can be expressed as a fraction.

Since -6 is obviously not a fraction, it is not a rational number.

  • Irrational number- a number that cannot be expressed as a fraction- has an infinite amount of numbers when written as a decimal.

Again, -6 isn't infinite nor is it a decimal or fraction- that's out of the way.

  • Whole number- a number; an integer.

An integer (or whole number) includes positive and negative numbers- so -6 is a whole number and an integer! You can put either though, since they are both the same.

  • Real numbers- numbers that are either algebraic or transcendental, rational or irrational, or positive, negative, or 0.

Since -6 is a negative number, it is a real number as well.

Answer: Whole number, integer, and real number
