The Versailles Peace Treaty maintained the world peace for a certain period of time by weakening the aggressive countries who started World War One.

The Treaty of Versailles was mainly about the punishment given to Germany after she initiated and provoked the other nations to cause WWI to happen.

In the treaty, Germany was demanded to pay a huge compensation of 6.6 Billions of Euro. This caused Germany's economy to fall apart. When a nation had a weak economy power and influence, and was busy rebuilding her own economy, this could prevent her to start a war again to keep the world peace.

Military sanction was also decided in the treaty and Germany's troop was limited to 100000 men and conscription has to be abolished. Rhineland was also made as a demilitarized zone to protect the nations on the other side  of Europe. In addition, air force, tanks and submarines were banned to prevent her from starting a war thus protection the world peace.

By weakening Germany and the defeated, the balance of power was also restored, where none of the nation would be able to invade the other without much risk.

Hope it helps!
