Ribosomes
The rough endoplasmic reticulum is where most protein synthesis occurs in the cell. The function of the smooth endoplasmic reticulum is to synthesize lipids in the cell. The two organelles that produce protein are the ribosomes and the rough endoplasmic reticulum. The ribosomes manufacture proteins for the cell through protein synthesis. The rough endoplasmic reticulum produces proteins here that are often secreted by the cell and carried by the vesicles to the Golgi apparatus.
