The fundamental thought is that one's feeling of character is resolved to a great extent by the decisions and responsibilities made with respect to certain individual and social attributes.

The four statuses are;

Identity Diffusion

Identity Foreclosure

Identity Moratorium

Identity Achievement

Identity Moratorium refers to the status in which the juvenile is at present in an emergency, investigating different duties and is prepared to settle on decisions, yet has not settled on a pledge to these decisions yet.
