a digit is noting but numerals from 0 to 9, and a digit is always used for forming a part of any number....
now in the number 421 .... 4 , 2 , 1, are all called digits .... noting but individual numbers
In maths, a digit is a character, a single number with a unique value that has been attributed to it in a world wide scale.
For example, 6 is a digit, but 16 in the other hand, is not a digit, it is composed by two digits, a 1 and a 6 that combined give you a determined value known as sixteen (16)
To be more clear: it's any number from 0 → 9. Note that the negative numbers from 0 → -9 are not different digits, they're only digits with a different sing in front of them.
