7. The Smith family wants to fence all sides (PERIMETER) of their square shaped vegetable garden. If the area of the garden is 1600 square feet, how much fencing is needed? (Hint: A = s2)

Respuesta :

Given, the Smith family has a square shaped vegetable garden.

The area of the garden given = 1600 square feet.

The family wants to fence all sides which means the perimeter of it.

We know that the formula to find the area is [tex] s^2 [/tex], where s is the side.

So we can write,

[tex] s^2 = 1600[/tex]

To find s , we have to take square root to both sides. We will get,

[tex] \sqrt{s^2} =\sqrt{1600}[/tex]

[tex] s =\sqrt{1600}[/tex]

[tex] s = 40 [/tex]

So we have got the side of the square garden = 40 ft.

Now the perimeter of the square garden  = 4s.

So, perimeter = [tex] (4)(40) ft [/tex] = 160 ft.

We have got the required answer.

Total fencing needed = 160 ft.
