The building blocks of geometry are points, lines and planes.
Some applications in real world are:
- Railway
- Scissors
- Signboards
- Interior designs
- Quilting
We apply the concepts of geometry in our daily activities, knowingly or unknowingly.
Geometry is applied in the following activities:
Railway:
The concept of lines is applied in the tracks of a railway, where each sleeper is parallel to the next sleeper, on the rail.
Scissors:
The scissors make use of the concepts of lines and an intersecting point. Without the intersection of the two blades, the scissors would not function as expected.
Signboards:
The signboard illustrates the use of plane; the board itself is a plane.
Quilting:
This makes use of all the building blocks (i.e. points, lines and planes), where several planes and lines intersect.
Interior designs:
Just like quilting, some designs make use of all the building blocks.
Other applications include:
- The wall clock: (angles and perpendicular lines)
- Antenna: (parallel lines)
- Blackboard: (planes)
