The sum of two numbers is 67 . The larger number is 17 more than the smaller number. What are the numbers?

The larger number is 50.5 and the smaller number is 16.50.

How I got my answer.
67÷2 = 33.5 then I know each equation would be 33.5 so I added 33.5+17 = 50.5 so then if you ad 16.50 it equals 67.
