In both the cases the concentration of the acid is same.

However from the chemical formula of sulfuric acid we can see that it is a dibasic acid.

So for every mole of sulfuric acid 2 mol of H⁺ would be present.

The above experiment is a type of simple displacement reaction. Thus Mg displaces H⁺ from H₂SO₄ in the above experiment.

Thus if more H⁺ is present, more of Mg reacts in the same amount of time.

Hence the reaction would be faster in sulfuric acid at the start.
