A pregnant woman asked her doctor about the chances of her baby being a boy. The doctor said that there was an equal chance of the baby being a boy or a girl. The doctors puts up the following explanation.
The sex cells of the women have only the X chromosomes present in them. Whereas the sex cells of the male have a X and Y chromosome present. The Punnett square shows the likelihood of having the gender of the child being a male (boy).
Based on the Punnett square, the chances having a boy is 50% since there are 2 XY out of the 4 genotypes.
