The most significant movement in order to reform the beliefs and the practices of the Roman Catholic Church was the Protestant Reformation whose most important advocate was Martin Luther, so that he was considered and declared a Protestant. As a result of this religious division, long term effects on politics and religions across Europe took place and a new religion arose in the continent as well.
