I’m confused on this one

The surface area of a cylinder is the sum of the surface areas of the bases (2 circles) and the side of the cylinder (a rectangle).
The area of the bases is 2 times the area of each base, and each base is a circle,
The area of the side is a rectangle that has as length, the circumference of the base, and as width, the height of the cylinder.
[tex] surface ~area = 2(\pi r^2) + (2 \pi r)h [/tex]
diameter = 2; radius = diameter/2 = 2/2 = 1
height = 16
[tex] surface ~area = 2(\pi \times 1^2) + (2 \pi \times 1)\times 16 [/tex]
[tex] surface ~area = 2\pi + 2 \pi \times 16 [/tex]
[tex] surface ~area = 2\pi + 32 \pi [/tex]
[tex] surface ~area = 34 \pi [/tex]
