The planning section chief is the general staff member prepares incident action plans, manages information, and maintains situational awareness for the incident. In order to do this, the planning section chief must be aware of other disaster organizations, be knowledgeable about the development and use of integrated action planning concepts and processes and have a general knowledge of hazardous materials response functions and defensive techniques, heavy equipment and rigging technique.
