We can add equations (1) and (2) to eliminate y . So,
7x+0=21
7x=21
[tex] \frac{7x}{7} =\frac{21}{7} [/tex] Divide each sides by 21 to isolate x.
So, x= 3
Now plug in x=3 in equation (1) to get the value of y.
So, 5(3)+3y=-6
15 +3y= -6
15+3y-15=-6-15
3y= -21
[tex] \frac{3y}{3} =\frac{-21}{3} [/tex]
So, y=-7.
Hence, x=3 and y=7.
