The answer is; sterilization.
Sterilization means the killing of bacteria on the surface. This could be by using hydrogen peroxide, high heat, chlorine, and etcetera. On the other hand, sanitizing means only preventing the active multiplication of the microbes on the surface (hence not entirely bacteriocidal but only reduces their number that can cause infection).
