There were many positive and negative effects of the Industrial Revolution.

The Industrial Revolution occurred first in England in the 1700s and later spread in America and Europe.

Positive Effects

  • The industrial revolution bought more advanced technology machinery, which was fastest than ever and efficient.
  • The industrial revolution started with the invention of the steam-powered engine, where they require coal for heat.
  • The rural people moved out of their county side and shifted to urban areas to find a better opportunity and to start a new life.

Negative Effects

  • The use of coal emits toxic gases like nitrogen, oxides of sulfur, and smoke. This smoke caused respiratory problems in people in London and many parts of England.
  • Life was not easy in cities with low wages and long shifts. Workers lived in wooden structures in the urban dwelling with no sanitation and safety.
  • The environmental condition worsened because of pollution, including urban areas where the most population lived and worked.
