The Treaty of Versailles was designed to keep Germany from becoming a power again. In what ways did Hitler break the treaty?

The major way was that he rearmed. 
A not so delightful footnote to that is that IBM, General Motors and Ford Motors all contributed to his rearming. 

Just before coming to power, Germany stopped making reparation payments. Hitler made no attempt to repay the debt of WWI. Germany could have made the payments had she had the will to do so, especially after Young and others revised the payment schedule. Germany felt that the reparations were a humiliation and simply refused to participate in any repayment. In the end, she would have had the debt repaid by the end of 1988 if she honored that obligation. Obviously she did not feel honor bound. Instead ... 

The German Navy was rebuilt much beyond the limits dictated by the Versailles Treaty.

Then there was Austria. Certainly the Versailles Treaty never gave Hitler the right to invade countries. Next came Czechoslovakia. No response of any meaning from the allies. Finally Poland. That's when WWII was declared. The terms of Versailles were completely forgotten by then.
