The sum of two numbers is 77 the greater number is five more than the smaller number which equation can be used to solve for the smaller number

First no. = x
Second no = y

Equation Formation.
x = y +5................ equation (ii)
x + y = 77...............equation(i)

y + 5 + y = 77
2 y + 5 = 77

Answer ⇒ 2 y + 5 = 77
