If you assume that with each outfit you must use at least one of each shirt, jacket, and skirt, you have a 1/2 chance of selecting one of each. Since it is a compound event (an outfit), you will multiply each singular probability (shirt, jacket, skirt) together.
[tex] \frac{1}{2} [/tex]·[tex] \frac{1}{2} [/tex]·[tex] \frac{1}{2} [/tex]=[tex] \frac{1}{8} [/tex]
You can make eight different outfits.
