The two reasons that compelled US president Harry Truman to fire General Douglass MacArthur are the following:
1. MacArthur beleived that the United States should bomb China.
2. President Truman wanted to avoid the damages that a war could cause.

General MacArthur was in charge of  US force at Korea. President Truman did not want the conflict in Korea to develop into total war, but the General wanted the America to go into total war with North Korea in order to wipe out the communist forces. The Chinese communists intervened on behalf of North Korea and the General requested the President for the permission to bomb china; the President vehemently rejected this idea and had to relive the General of his position.
