Support cells of nervous system are collectively known as neuroglia.
Neuroglia refers to a cell that has capacity to help neurons. In 1907, Italian scholar Emilio Lugaro proposed that neuroglia cells trade substances with extracellular liquid and along these lines apply control on neuronal condition.
It has since been demonstrated that glucose, amino acids, and particles-all of which impact neuronal capacity-are traded between the extracellular space and neuroglia cells. For example, after significant levels of neuronal action neuroglia cells can take up and spatially cradle potassium particles and in this manner keep up ordinary neuronal capacity.
