A covalent compound or bond is formed when two nonmetals react together.
An ionic compound needs a metal and nonmetal to form, which makes it the stronger of the two.
elements can be either nonmetal or metal so this is definitely not a choice.
Also, salts must be made by acid, alkali, or metal carbonates reacting with metal.
