The purpose was to organize the new lands of the British Empire in North America and define the way in which relations with the native communities would be established. In the proclamation different laws were established to regulate matters around the fur trade, colonization and purchase of land on the western border.  Another purpose was to assimilate the French population that at that time was settled in the region to strengthen a true British colony in American territory.
