An onomatopoeia is a word that phonetically imitates the natural sound of the thing it describes, like "smash," "clap," "pop," "bang," "cough" and "moo." “Tweet” is also an onomatopoeia because it imitates the sound it describes: the chirp of a bird. These words are usually employed when one wants to have an effect on somebody else's sense and for emphasis.
