It could lead to an HIV infection because it is a cross-generational intercourse that is usually based on material gain. By constantly switching partners with numerous sugar daddies/mommies and with young people the risk of an HIV infection increases.
The main reason why this phenomenon could lead to an increased risk of HIV infection is because people who engage in this behaviour tend to have several sexual partners, whether simultaneously or not. These relationships, because they are usually superficial compared to love relationships, tend to last less time. They also tend to be less committed. Therefore, there is a greater risk for people to have multiple partners, which in turn increases the risk of contracting a sexually transmitted disease (STD).
