The easiest way a citizen can stay active in the affairs of government is to vote. Voting is one of the most powerful forms of action available to the common citizen. Additionally, a citizen can choose to become more active in government by supporting particular candidates or issues or, if they feel so motivated, to run for government themselves. Starting peaceful protests or initiating petitions are other ways average citizens can become active in government.
