Primary storage is simply referred to as “memory”. Memory
acts as the main storage option which temporarily houses applications and data
currently in use. Computer’s main memory is normally called the RAM. Secondary
storage, on the other hand, retains data until you either overwrite or delete
it. Even when the computer is turned off, all data in it remains intact. Basically,
the difference is that one is temporary and the other retains data permanently
It is necessary to have both primary and secondary storage. Despite both working as opposites, they often work together to create ideal storage conditions. For example, when you save your document in word, the file data moves from memory to storage. Likewise, memory devices retrieve data from secondary storage to speed up access.
Technically, word size is the maximum number of bits that a CPU is able to process at a time. When people talk about computers having bit sizes, say, 32-bit or 64-bit, this is what they mean. Word size is important since it is used for a number of concepts, all relating to processing. It is used in addresses, fixed-point numbers, registers, floating point numbers, and instructions.
There is so much information out there about how you can increase your computer’s performance. Below, however, is a list of proven performance enhancements you can make to your PC.
1.It is recommended that you get rid of malware. Presence of malware will slow down your machine and too much infection may be bad to justify a wipe and reload. A virus scan is the first step in investigating a slow system.
2.Delete programs you never use. Keeping unnecessary programs that you never use might slow your machine and thus, it is a good idea to uninstall all these programs
3.Defragment your hard disk. This will rearrange fragmented data so your hard disk can work more efficiently.
Other maintenance performances include;
4. Clean up your hard disk, limit how many programs run at startup, upgrade to a better video card, get a faster drive, add more memory, and address hardware and software issues.
